NEMBHARAT Targets India’s Ride-Hailing Market With National Mobility Platform Amid Sector Turmoil

The company plans national rollout, challenging commission-led ride-hailing model

All India: At a time when India’s ride-hailing sector is grappling with widespread driver strikes and rising passenger complaints over High Surge Pricing, Safety Concerns and Harassment , NEMBHARAT- India’s first subscription-free and commission-free on-demand mobility platform, is built on a dual-layer quality control system and stringent policies, positioning itself as a trust-governed framework set to challenge the status quo

The move comes as lakhs of gig workers across Indian metros raise alarms over plummeting daily earnings, gruelling work hours, and opaque fare structures issues that have recently led to frequent service disruptions and protests.
“Recent developments have highlighted significant structural stress in the digital mobility sector. NEMBHARAT is built  to address  income predictability, driver livelihood protection and governance challenges that have long plagued the gig economy,” said Deepak K. Shah, Director and CEO of WEML.

Unlike conventional app-based services, NEMBHARAT will operate as “National Mobility Infrastructure Ecosystem.”. “The model will use a prepaid, cashless system intended to provide absolute clarity on driver take-home pay while ensuring predictable fares for commuters, free from the volatility of traditional surge algorithms,” added Shah.

Operated by World Economic Mobility Limited (WEML) and governed by the NARAYANIHITI Trust, NEMBHARAT (National Economic & Electric Mobility) is built  to transform the traditional commission-led aggregator model with a zero-subscription, zero-commission architecture.

According to WEML, the ecosystem will integrate multiple transport modes onto a single platform, focusing on standardised safety protocols and “multi-scenario” coverage. The goal is to shift the narrative from a private middleman service to a technology-driven public utility.

Dr Kanchi Sharma, Director and COO of WEML, said that the framework aligns with evolving government standards. “This system is designed to function as a national productivity tool, balancing economic growth with workforce standards and consumer protection under the guidelines of the Central Consumer Protection Authority (CCPA),” said Sharma.

The platform’s rollout arrives as the industry faces increasing scrutiny from regulators over platform accountability and the social security of vehicle partners. By removing the subscription and commission layer, NEMBHARAT is betting that it can offer a more stable environment for both fleet owners and individual drivers.
